Essex Concrete & Screed offer comprehensive concrete & screed delivery services throughout Essex, and are dedicated to give you a complete solution to accessing concrete and screed easily and efficiently in Basildon, Maldon, Grays, Benfleet, Wickford, Rayleigh, Chelmsford, Southend and the surrounding areas.
Not only do we provide you with fully trained operators to help you. We can also arrange concrete pumps and surface levelling services.
Our mobile batching plants can supply a variety of mixes and slumps per delivery, i.e. we can allow the customer to change the water content as the mix is poured. This has the great benefit of making jobs much easier for the people laying the concrete or screed (which is another reason our customers love us). Not only do we save you money, we save you a lot of time and effort too, as our drivers also help you out by applying their vast experience.

To order, simply contact us. You will need to know what mix you require, and roughly how much of it you need.
If you’re not sure on the quantity you require, not to worry – just give us a call or email and we will provide you with a free, no obligation tailor-made quote.
You will only be charged for what is delivered! There are no part load charges - so if you order 5m3, but only take 4m3, that’s all you’ll pay for. Our vehicles hold up to 10m3, however if you do need more, it won’t be a problem. If you want more than 10m3, we can always make more than one delivery. The charges are on a sliding scale, so the more you require, the cheaper the price per m3 gets.
Please be aware that you have 10 minutes per cubic metre to off-load the ready mix concrete or screed. If loading into wheelbarrows, we would recommend you have a team of people to help you, otherwise you may incur additional waiting time. We can however, drop the load on a polythene sheet, or in a skip, so you can barrow it in your own time.
Our ready mix concrete is freshly mixed on-site, and you can change the slump (wetness/dryness) of the mix on the go. You can also change the strength of the mix if you require and add additives, but this will affect the cost.
If there is any access restrictions and you are in doubt about whether we can deliver to you, then tell us the dimensions of your site and we can advise you.
The dimensions of a mobile batching plant for access purposes are:
4 m high x 12 m long x 3 m wide and they weigh approximately 44 tonnes when fully loaded.
As a guide, here are some common terms for different types of concrete and screed and what they are used for – we can deliver all of these mixes.
| Mix Type | Ideal For |
|---|---|
| C8 (Gen 0/18_1) | For patio bases |
| C10 (Gen 1/16_1) | For structural beams and agricultural use |
| C15 (Gen 2/15_1) | For house floors with no embedded metal. |
| C20 ((Gen 3/ST 1/12_1) | For footings/foundations and groundwork. |
| C25 (ST 2/11_1) | For footings/foundations and groundwork |
| C30 (PAV1/ST 3/9_1) | For light use external slabs, e.g. outdoor paved areas such as driveways, paths, patios, garages, carports and pavements |
| C35 | For heavy-duty use external slabs/piling, e.g. external paved areas subject to the constant loading and scraping imposed by industrial vehicles and machinery |
| C40 | For blinding, mass concrete fill, un-reinforced strip, trench fills and pad foundations. Over-site below suspended floors, and drainage works. |
| Screed 5 (Fibres/5_1) | For finishing floors, where a smooth finish is required, 5:1 is the ratio of sharp sand to cement, so this is the weakest of all the 3 screed options |
| Screed 4 (Fibres/4_1) | For finishing floors, where a smooth finish is required, 4:1 is the ratio of sharp sand to cement, so this is a medium strength mix and our most popular |
| Screed 3 (Fibres/3_1) | For finishing floors, where a smooth finish is required, 3:1 is the ratio of sharp sand to cement, so this is the strongest of the 3 options. |
| Foam 200 / 225 | For pouring around pipes. The concrete has a foaming agent added, enabling the concrete to be chipped off in chunks, which makes it easier to remove should any maintenance on the pipe be required. |
